The School offers this kind of living accommodation to the students in order to facilitate the total immersion in the program and in order to gain the maximum efficiency in their learning. These way our students can practice their Spanish and learn about our culture and customs.
Our families are located near the School, between one and eight blocks from our central building. We will place you in the family upon your arrival.
THE FAMILY: The family system varies in Guatemala due to the cultural model, economy, demographic dynamics and the social economy development of the country.
Guatemalan families are very traditional. Most of the festivities involve religion, as the majority of the families are catholic. Festivities include weddings, Christmas, Holy Week, etc. Family members include the father, mother, sons, daughters and grandparents in some houses, and even an uncle, aunt, or other related members in other houses.

Each student has their own bedroom, but may not have a private bathroom. The family bathroom may only have cold water because some families do not have a heater. Students are served with three meals a day at set times. Breakfast is served at 7:00 A.M., lunch at 12:30 P.M. and dinner at 7:00 P.M. If the student for any reason will not be available at meal time they must inform the lady of the house and should also advise if they are not planning to return for an evening as the family may get worried for the student’s safety. If the student is used to eating fruit, they can buy them in the market and share it with the members of the family. The same is recommended for milk, whole-grain bread and other products that the family may not provide. It is better if you bring your personal lavatory items, such as towel or others. The family will provide you with blankets and sheets.
The School has a quality control of all the services offered. Due to this important aspect, we encourage frequent feedback from our students to ensure that our homestays meet their needs. If you are not comfortable with a host family we will gladly move you to another of your convenience.
